The Regional Haven
OVERVIEW
The Regional Haven is a 24-hour institution that provides social services to disadvantaged girls and women. It was established in October 1999 with funding support from the Congressional Spouses Foundation Incorporated (CFSPI) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
It celebrated its 10 years of existence October 23 of last year, through a gathering with partners and stakeholders enjoying trade fair, photo exhibit, and showcase of talents of staff and residents in a one-day event dubbed “Isang Dekada na Po Kami!”
VISION
That women and girls in especially difficult circumstances are empowered, enjoying their fundamental rights, with dignity and free from all forms of abuse, enabling them to develop their fullest potential making them responsible, productive and contributing members of their family, community and society.
MISSION:
To promote the rights, social protection and well-being of the vulnerable, disadvantaged women and girls through:
A comprehensive program for their recovery, healing and rehabilitation necessary for mainstreaming and social reintegration.
Provision of therapeutic group living experiences to enable them to participate actively, necessary for regaining their dignity, restore their coping skills, rebuild their lives as a result of their painful and abusive experiences at home and elsewhere.
Networking and resource building with Local Government Units (LGUs) People’s Organization, other government organizations and individuals for a more effective program implementation.
CLIENTELE GROUP
Target clientele include girls 7-17 years old and women 18-59 years old who are in Especially Difficult Circumstances. These are, but not necessarily limited to, the following::
- Victims of Involuntary Prostitution-- These are individuals who were recruited for various forms of employment such as receptionist, waitress, entertainers, dancers, household help but end up into prostitution against their own will by fraud, force or coercion.
- Victims of Illegal Recruitment - These are women who were recruited usually for free for various forms of local or foreign employment but end up being victimized
- Battered / Abused Women - These are women who are physically, mentally and emotionally maltreated / abused for various reason by husbands, other family members, employers, etc.
- Victims of Sexual Abuse (ie: incest, rape, acts of lasciviousness)
- Abandoned/Neglected—Girls/minors abandoned by their families/relatives due to undesirable circumstances
- Women Victims of Armed Conflict - These are women who have been traumatized due to death, displacement and disorganization of family members as a result of armed struggle.
- Victims of Human Trafficking
- Others—Strandees, those who are tracing lost relatives and others who are in crisis needing immediate professional help thus, preventing further exploitation and abuse.
Requirements for Admission:
- Referral Letter from the Referring Party
- Initial Social Case Study Report
- Medical Records / Medico Legal
- Sworn Statement - if court related
- Psychological Evaluation - if applicable
- School Records / Good Moral Character - if in-school
